At the April Board of Trustees meeting, Chair Chris Campbell told the community the KCA Board would provide an update on the status of DPZ Partners, LLC as the Kentlands Community Architect.
At the September board meeting, the board issued the following statement:
“In April the KCA and DPZ agreed to a probationary six-month contract as Town Architect. The KCA board, KCA president and staff from DPZ, as well as members of the KHT and of our community have spent the previous five months meeting with Clyde Horton in mediation. Parties have met with Clyde individually and he has mediated meetings between parties.
Currently, the KCA and the Kentlands Historical Trust (KHT) has been pleased with the work done by DPZ as Town Architect during this interim period. In addition, the KCA is thankful for DPZ‘s work with Michael Watkins’ Architects on issues concerning the redevelopment of the Kentlands Downtown. These responsibilities fall outside of the scope of work of the Town Architect position.
The KCA leadership is working to finalize a new contract with DPZ as Town Architect. We are working with DPZ on the scope of work. The final contract will be ready to execute at the October board meeting. In addition, Clyde Horton will be at the October board meeting to provide an overview of his meetings.”
